abuin the burn
mudges - ower fest
tae lave a sheddae

above the stream
midges - too fast
to leave a shadow

  1. Wow John! You've had a top day of posts here! I love this one - my soft spot for anything shadowy. Mind is racing at the thought of whether I can move fast enough to give my shadow the slip - I doubt it!

A very beautiful poem, dear John. I admire the refinement of the observation. I found another layer of meaning: the human beings, too small and transient without a trace.
    Thank you for sharing.
