Lovely poem for the quintessential voice of rugby. I remember long boring rainy Saturday afternoons as a kid in the 70's when all that was on TV worth watching would be the rugby. Bill McLaren's brogue is a familiar and comforting one from my early years. One that ranks (for me) alongside my Dad's old schoolmate Brian Cant and the late Oliver Postgate.
Nice one John. I didn't know. But I can hear those dulcet tones. A great commentator. On a par with Peter O'Sullevan, Eddie Waring, David Coleman and other icons of that ilk. And a gentleman too. Wonderful!
